Presidents Column -- February/March 2010

George D. Honeywell

Take a good look at the Club schedule. If we could get all the members to attend just one of these events we would be ecstatic. We haven’t seen some of you folks for so long we are thinking of getting your pictures on milk cartons at Redners.

Seriously, the last few shoots have had very poor turnouts, as with the archery shoots. All the money raised at these events along with the Membership dues, do not cover the fixed expenses of the Club. Therefore, will be discussing the dues structure in the next few months. Times are tough and we are all affected by the economy, all we can ask is for your support as often as we can get it.

Two neighbors have complained about people hunting the Club grounds are encroaching into the “Safety Zone”. They have heard close shooting and have seen foot prints in the snow. The Club grounds are open to hunting but we must adhere to State law. Again, only we can police our ranks.

Several deer carcasses have been dumped along Doerr road. These may be from poachers or people picking up road kills removing the hind quarters and disposing of the remainder. We have notified the Game commission and we ask anyone finding more remains to please do the same.
