Presidents Column - October 2009

George D. Honeywell

Fall is here, the leaves are dropping, the migrating birds are moving on, the days are getting shorter and Hunters are taking to the field. There are changes to the game laws this year, with more on the way. One recent event the State Legislature is voting on is Sunday hunting. If passed, the Game Commission will have the authority to allow Sunday hunting at their discretion. Pro or Con - change is a way of life, let your Legislators and the Game Commission know how you feel.

There was a discussion at the Director’s meeting to allow guest members:  One scenario is an extra annual membership fee which entitles members to bring one non-member per day, another is a day fee to be collected by the Member and forwarded to an Officer or placed in a secure box on site. One of the benefits of this is exposing more people to the club. Dennis will check on the insurance ramifications.
