Presidents Column -- October/November 2010

George D. Honeywell

The President’s Column

The Club continues to sign up new members but we rarely see them along with the majority of the current members. We have the same people at the meetings, work parties and most other Club activities. During the archery shoots this year we saw many new people that have found out about the Club from Internet advertising of the 3D shoots BUT if I went back through the records of the 2010 shoots I am sure we had less than (10) members participate in the shoots. The Club is here for everybody to use it is just a shame that only a few members make the sacrifice of time so the rest of the Members have a place to hunt, fish, shoot, hike etc.

  • For the Good of the Association

The Fall Turkey shoot is being held on Sunday November 7th from 12 noon until?

We will have the usual bake raffle (baked goods are always welcome donations), the freezer filler raffle, splash board, still and flying board shoots, the kids shoot and the loser’s raffle. Come on out and bring your friends and neighbors to have a good time.

The annual Gun/Cash raffle will take place from January 1 through January 30, the numbers will be base on the evening drawing of the PA daily number. We will be sending out tickets for purchase and or sale shortly please make every attempt to buy or sell the tickets.

We have had several members take advantage of the guest shooter program to date. Again the guest must be accompanied by a member, both must sign in and the guest must pay the $10.00 fee for each of the (3) allowed visits. No visitors are allowed in November and December.

The old John Deere tractor has been fitted for the cyclone rake attachment and will be used for leaf pick up. Thanks to Ed Kolb for the time and effort put in to purchase and install the leaf attachment.

There is an answering machine/service on the Club phone (215-538-7875) now, please feel free to call and leave a message if you need to contact us or call me at one of the numbers on the inside of the front cover, we are here to help.

  • Building Committee

The footings have been poured, the underground utilities have been installed and inspected, the slab is scheduled to be poured by an outside contractor on Thursday October 21st. The wall panels and trusses are onsite and will be installed after the slab pour. Please call for work dates, we want to get under roof before the snow flies.

I would like to thank the Members that have helped to date, this project has not been proceeding as fast as we would like but there is progress.
